the woman i stayed with in haines was the original founder of mica guides - a company that provides tours of the matanuska glacier outside palmer, alaska.
She very kindly pulled strings to get us a tour and it was an eye opening experience. I have walked on mountain top glaciers and stood in front of the perito moreno glacier in argentina, but never had I spent a day exploring the ever evolving blue ponds, rivers and ice sculptures of a glacier.
