This Week 21.02
21.02.20
this week was a lot of things:
I came back to Santa cruz, found out my dad used to party under the boardwalk, Stayed at the hostel for a few nights & had lots of good conversations with hostel-homies, went to a few talks in town, started running again & a month off while traveling, rented a room in Santa Cruz, got rejected from the masters I applied to but its cool, got a part time gig at the hostel to hold me over / keep me busy.
Monday
Back to santa cruz, ca
THE HI HOSTEL IN SANTA CRUZ IS A SUPER CUTE COLLECTION OF VICTORIAN HOUSES LINKED TOGETHER BY GARDENS, REDWOODS AND STRING LIGHTS. iT IS A LOVELY PLACE TO STAY & VERY AFFORDABLE. i MET MANYE INTERESTING PEOPLE & SPENT MOST EVENINGS IN THE LONG HOUSE CHATTING ABOUT TRAVELS.
thEY ALSO NEED SOME EXTRA HELP SO i AM GOING TO START PICKING UP SOME SHIFTS HERE.
Tuesday
WENT TO SEE Miranda Oakley SPEAK
I met a really cool lady who works in Yosemite & drives my dream white Toyota Tacoma.
She was renewing her NOLS wilderness medicine certification at ucsc for the weekend & invited me to tag along with her to a talk at pacific edge the local climbing gym.
the speaker was miranda oakley, a bad-ass yosemite based climber & the first woman to rope solo the nose of el cap…I don’t totally know what that means but it sounds crazy.
she talked about her recent trips climbing in jordan & palestine

Thursday
four walls of my own
today I moved into four walls of my very own space! A room with two windows, one tiny closet, a big white bed that is low to the ground.
This room will be mine from FROM: FEB 19TH - MARCH 30TH.
i HAVEN’T RENTED A SPACE SINCE THE SUMMER OF 2018 & EVEN THOUGH THINGS ARE UP IN THE AIR, i DECIDED TO TREAT MYSELF.
I foud some pink bedding & slept with my sleeping bag last night cause it got so cold.
Today I also found out that I was not accepted to UCSF Mepn program in midwifery / npw.
surprisingly and unsurprisingly, I felt huge relief upon the reading the kinda harsh “rejected” next to my name in my application account.
For so many reason, I am okay.
Friday
went to another talk hosted by eXXpedition
“micro-plastics out number baby fish 7 to 1”
“must find a way to turn off the focet" - aka stop plastic consumption & manufacturing.
A few years ago I participated in an event hosted by exxpedition in the great lakes. It was a mass beach clean up effort + I went out on a vessle into lake charlevoix to see how they troll for micro-plastics.
I’ve been a fan since & followed their travels crizz crossing the globe.
if you could join, what leg of the trip seems most interesting to you?
I’m most drawn to the leg from northern canada to greenland to iceland to norway.
