I met a really cool lady who works in Yosemite & drives my dream white Toyota Tacoma.

She was renewing her NOLS wilderness medicine certification at ucsc for the weekend & invited me to tag along with her to a talk at pacific edge the local climbing gym.

the speaker was miranda oakley, a bad-ass yosemite based climber & the first woman to rope solo the nose of el cap…I don’t totally know what that means but it sounds crazy.

she talked about her recent trips climbing in jordan & palestine

Thursday

four walls of my own

today I moved into four walls of my very own space! A room with two windows, one tiny closet, a big white bed that is low to the ground.

This room will be mine from FROM: FEB 19TH - MARCH 30TH.

i HAVEN’T RENTED A SPACE SINCE THE SUMMER OF 2018 & EVEN THOUGH THINGS ARE UP IN THE AIR, i DECIDED TO TREAT MYSELF.

I foud some pink bedding & slept with my sleeping bag last night cause it got so cold.

Today I also found out that I was not accepted to UCSF Mepn program in midwifery / npw.

surprisingly and unsurprisingly, I felt huge relief upon the reading the kinda harsh “rejected” next to my name in my application account.

For so many reason, I am okay.

Friday

went to another talk hosted by eXXpedition

“micro-plastics out number baby fish 7 to 1”

“must find a way to turn off the focet" - aka stop plastic consumption & manufacturing.

A few years ago I participated in an event hosted by exxpedition in the great lakes. It was a mass beach clean up effort + I went out on a vessle into lake charlevoix to see how they troll for micro-plastics.

I’ve been a fan since & followed their travels crizz crossing the globe.

if you could join, what leg of the trip seems most interesting to you?

I’m most drawn to the leg from northern canada to greenland to iceland to norway.

“I went to have a blood test to find out which of these chemicals often used in the production of plastic I might have inside my body. And it turned out I had 29 of these 35 chemicals in my system. That really was really pretty shocking. When I started to understand the impact these chemicals have, a lot of them are endocrine disruptors – they mimic our hormones – and particularly for women, having these chemicals inside us during pregnancy is bad news. We can pass them onto our children when we give birth. So I thought, ‘wow – this is actually a women-centred issue. So why not tackle it with an amazing team of women?”
